Steven Grant is a healthcare consultant with CENTRE Health Partners. He is a highly regarded healthcare executive with over 20 years of experience in complex provider settings, including academic medical centers, tertiary and quaternary care teaching hospitals, community and rehabilitation hospitals, and ambulatory care settings. Mr. Grant is a strong leader with core competencies focused on physician recruiting, alignment and relations, operational turnarounds, and strategic planning, implementation, and partnering.
Before joining PMA, Mr. Grant served as Chief Executive Officer of Legacy Medical Center in Atlanta a 125-bed acute care hospital serving the Atlanta metro region - where he was responsible for the operations of the recently purchased entity. In this role, he was also responsible for contributing to the enterprise-level vision and strategy, managing partnering and development initiatives, and partnering with the Board for fund raising and investor relations. During his tenure, system-wide efforts involved strengthening of the organization’s image and credibility as a player in the community healthcare market, recruitment of physicians in core service areas, reduction of operating expenses and days in accounts receivable, completion of commercial financing to secure $36M in new funding, identification of new revenue sources to include securing agreements with strategic partners, and acquisition of necessary technology platforms for patient accounting and radiology.
Prior to working with Legacy Medical Center, Mr. Grant served in the capacity of Vice President of Operations at Aurora Sinai Medical Center a leading metropolitan healthcare facility and independent teaching hospital with a $200M budget located in Milwaukee. As Vice President of Operations, Mr. Grant was accountable for business plan development for hospital, ambulatory and specialty services. He served as the Regional Vice President for Respiratory Services, Sleep Lab, Neurosciences and GI Lab; and supported operations of the Univer¬sity of Wisconsin Medical School onsite clinical campus and research programs. Through collaborative efforts, Mr. Grant successfully planned and developed clinical programs and services, implemented hospital-wide customer service initiatives, reduced insurance denials by 95%, collaborated with physicians to develop programs leading to increased market share and improved patient care, facilitated the Marquette University partnership to provide Sports Medicine, and developed a regional Emergency Department disaster preparedness plan and protocol.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Grant was the Administrative Director of Professional Services of Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC where he held direct fiscal responsibility for a $65M budget.
Mr. Grant has also served as Director of Operations/Clinic Manager with Spectrum Healthcare Resources (Portsmouth, VA), Regional Operations Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Center of Maryland (Richmond, MD), Administrative Director of Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center (Norfolk, VA), and Regional Rehabilitation Service Director of Virginia Rehabilitation (Hampton, VA).
Mr. Grant is a Fellow in and Member of the Board of Examiners of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Mr. Grant holds a Master of Health Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master and Bachelor of Science in Biology from Hampton University in Virginia.
